4 Steps to a Fast, Effective Skincare Routine

Skincare is a crucial part of staying healthy and feeling beautiful, but studies have shown that most Americans either don't wash their faces or are doing it incorrectly. I've talked to many people about their facial cleansing routines throughout the years, and I've learned that the top reasons for inadequate care include a lack of knowledge and feeling too pressed for time - neither of which should be a barrier to optimal well-being. That's why I've put together an easy, four-step routine that will allow you to keep your skin young and fresh in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Cleanse

In a perfect world, you'd wash your face both in the morning and at night, but as a doctor, I know that doesn't always happen - especially in the morning rush. That doesn't mean all is lost! If you can commit to at least cleansing your face at the end of the day, your skin will thank you. That's because, after hours on the go, your face has collected dirt and oil and has accumulated dead skin cells. Using a gentle facial cleanser will remove these impurities, helping you to avoid breakouts and keep your skin looking youthful.

Step 2: Exfoliate

It might sound fancy and complicated, but exfoliating your skin is easy and honestly only takes a minute or two. You can make it a part of your daily routine or choose to follow this step two or three times a week. With a good exfoliating cream, you'll be able to get rid of any dead skin cells that remain after cleansing. Afterward, new, younger skin will appear, leaving you looking and feeling more radiant.

Step 3: Hydrate

Washing your face without hydrating it will end up drying you out, leading to discomfort and visibly flaky skin. I recommend finding a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid. This will help to smooth out wrinkles, firm things up, and leave your face naturally nourished and hydrated.

Step 4: Moisturize

When you're done with your hydrating serum, it's time to lock in the moisture. When selecting a moisturizer, I recommend looking for something that's light and fast-absorbing, so you don't go to bed feeling goopy. Those prone to breakouts should seek out an oil-free product for optimal health and beauty.

Bonus Step: Protect

After putting in the work to cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, and moisturize your face, the last thing you want is to undo everything by subjecting your skin to damage from the sun. I strongly advise applying sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 to your face daily. This will protect you against sunburn, aging spots, and premature aging.

And there you have it - a super fast, super simple, and super effective way to incorporate a daily skincare routine into your life! Make a small commitment to try out my foolproof regimen, and you'll end up saving a lot on beauty products and procedures in the long run. Got questions about which products are right for your face? Hit me up, and I'll be happy to talk to you about your skincare goals.
