ALCOHOL
It is best not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours before and after treatment, as alcohol may increase bruising risk.

FOODS & MEDICATIONS
If you are having any treatment that involves a needle, avoid anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medications, if possible, two (2) weeks before treatment, as blood-thinning effects can increase bruising and swelling risk.
Examples are Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, and other NSAIDs.
You can still take Tylenol for pain. You can also take oral Arnica montana to reduce your risk of bruising and swelling.

Avoid salty foods before and after your treatments because the sodium can increase your risk of swelling.

MAKEUP
Please do not come in with makeup applied or at least be prepared to remove it.

HYDRATION
Eat well and stay hydrated before your appointment.

OTHER TREATMENTS
Avoid hair removal treatments, laser treatments, and chemical peels in the areas to be treated for at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
If you have a history of cold sores, mention it when reserving your appointment. Treatments could lead to an outbreak.
Dr. Gilbert does not perform treatments on pregnant or breastfeeding clients.

SWELLING & BRUISING
For dermal filler treatments, try to schedule your appointment at least two (2) weeks before special events since swelling can take up to two (2) weeks to resolve.
